Medication Policy

Evolution Health Associates

  • Once your provider has sent a prescription, you are responsible for contacting your pharmacy directly to resolve any issues related to insurance, quantity, or availability before reaching out to our office.

  • Do not rely solely on your pharmacy app to notify you when a prescription is ready. If the app indicates a delay or unavailability, please call the pharmacy directly for clarification.

  • Our practice only prescribes psychiatric medications. We do not prescribe medications for non-psychiatric conditions.

  • For medications that require routine lab monitoring—such as mood stabilizers—refills may be withheld if lab work has not been completed as ordered.

  • Prescriptions can only be sent to pharmacies located in the states of Florida, Virginia, and Texas.

  • We will not prescribe psychiatric medications if you are receiving care from another psychiatric provider at the same time. This is considered an unsafe practice.

  • If you are prescribed a stimulant or other controlled substance, you will be required to sign a Controlled Substances Agreement as part of your care plan.

  • Prior authorization requests may take 5–7 business days to process, depending on your insurance and medication type.

  • We do not prescribe benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Ativan, etc.) except under the following circumstances:
  • You are an established patient and the medication is needed for short-term, situational use (e.g., travel, grief, acute anxiety).
  • You are already taking a benzodiazepine at the time of intake and work with your provider on a tapering plan.
